Hunter Jones | The #NEPACreative Series | CoalCreative
Throughout 2017, we are working with our interns to highlight 52 Creatives from the NEPA region. We believe creativity is a broad term that cannot be easily confined within the walls of one simple definition. We want to know what being creative means to you and how you bring that creativity to light.
Hunter Jones is our 50th #NEPACreative of 2017. Hunter brings creativity to the area through shooting and directing his own short films.
Being in high school in 2017, in a time when arts programs are getting cut left and right, it is hard to find ways to express your creativity. Hunter Jones breaks this mold by directing, shooting, and editing his own short films. He started down the path of film making with his interest in it starting around four years ago. He says that he wants his films to tell stories that he thinks need to be told. That is where the inspiration for his first short film, titled The Meaning of Love, comes from. “My original short film “The Meaning of Love” is about what love means to everyone and how it affects how lives, and our world,” Jones says.
Hunter is not only a film maker. His interests include boxing, writing, and exploring and learning about all kinds of new things that catch his interest. When asked what he would like to direct films about in the future, Jones said the following: “I’d love to continue to cover topics that reach a wide audience on a deep and meaningful level. Something that allows people to think beyond the confines of words and intellectualization. Things that inspire hope and understanding.” He also says that one of his favorite things about himself is how easily he is inspired by the world around him, and that his biggest inspirations and heroes include: Malcolm X, Mahatma Gandhi, Elon Musk, and online blogger, Jason Silva. Hunter plans to go to college to major in film, and minor in psychology, and to keep chasing his dreams.
