It’s the most wonderful time of the year! That’s right, the holiday season is in full swing and the Coal Creative team couldn’t be more excited. However, things are certainly looking a little different this year due to the pandemic, and you may find yourself having to shift your usual plans in exchange for something more chill.

In an effort to keep the spirit of the holiday season alive, the Coal crew has compiled a list of some of our favorite things about this time of year. Enjoy!

Drive-Thru Displays

“One of my favorite things to do during the holiday season is visit some of the drive-thru displays in NEPA. The Holiday House in Scranton is a great one. You drive down the alley next to the house and see a festive display of lights, music, and even live animals! Nay Aug Park is also a favorite of mine. Driving around drinking hot chocolate and checking out the lights is one of my favorite things to do around the holidays.” –Bri, Content Specialist

Christmas Eve Festivities

“My favorite holiday tradition is when my dad prepares a Christmas Eve seafood feast. We always listen to the Charlie Brown Christmas album during dinner (which also happens to be the best holiday music.)” –Will, Post-Production Manager

The Sounds of Christmas

“While I’m not the kind of person to turn on holiday music after Thanksgiving, nothing gets me into the Christmas spirit quite like listening to the Nat King Cole Christmas album on a quiet Christmas Eve. After the year that we’ve all had, I’m really looking forward to spending that magical time with loved ones.” –Sam, Creative Director

Movie Time

“I enjoy watching A Christmas Story and Christmas Vacation as many times as possible with my family.”- Matt, Lead Web Developer & Lead Designer

Quality Time with Family

“My favorite part of the holiday season is spending time with my family. One of our favorite traditions is seeing how many Christmas movies we can watch each December. We all love movies, and watching the same Christmas movies each year brings me such comfort and helps get my mind ready for the holidays.”- Samantha, Content Manager & Design Specialist

Sticking with the Classics

“My favorite thing to do around the holidays is to watch all of the Christmas specials from the 50s and 60s, like Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer and The Year Without a Santa Claus.”- Holly, Coal Creative CEO

Helping Out at the Family Business

“I enjoy making espresso drinks for people and working with my mom on weekends at her gift shop and cafe, Lehman Mercantile in Lehman, PA.”- Jordan, Video Production Specialist

Did Someone Say Dessert?

“I always look forward to sitting around with family, sipping on coffee, enjoying desserts and chatting after dinner.”- Travis, Web Developer

Tried and True Holiday Favorites

“My favorite Christmas movie is without a doubt Jingle All the Way. It came out the year I was born and it’s impossible to turn off every time I see it on TV. It’s no wonder my favorite christmas movie is all about the Holy Trinity- Arnold Schwarzenegger, Phil Hartman, and Sinbad.” –Alex, Production Manager

Decking the Halls

“All year I look forward to Black Friday, but not for the reason you’d think – Black Friday is the day I wake up early and decorate for Christmas ALL DAY long! I light my favorite Christmas candles, put on my favorite Christmas movies, play some Christmas music and decorate from sunup to sun down.” –Camaryn, Relationship Manager
