Keeping Up With the Coal Crew | February

Love is in the air here at Coal Creative! In the true spirit of Valentine’s Day, we thought we’d take a few minutes to share what we’ve been LOVING lately, from tangible things like books and food to life’s simple pleasures, like taking a few moments each day for self-care. Keep reading to find out what our team has been “hearting” recently!

“I have been loving enjoying the little things in life! Before the pandemic my life was nonstop — now I’m forced to step back and appreciate the little things. I’ve been especially loving cooking new recipes and catching up on the list of Netflix shows I need to watch.” –Camaryn, Relationship Manager

“Personally, I have been LOVING the series How To Get Away With Murder. Like, stay up until 3AM on a work night obsessed. In the music realm, I can’t really explain it but I have had Put Your Records On by Corinne Bailey Rae on repeat every single day. Professionally, I am exploding with joy and excitement around the upcoming 31 Days of Women In Power Campaign which will be benefiting Dress For Success Luzerne County!” –Holly, Coal Creative CEO

“I’ve been listening to the T2 Trainspotting soundtrack on repeat lately. It’s such a great collection of songs to listen to, and you can vividly imagine the scenes each track goes with. 10/10.” –Alex, Production Manager

“Lately I have been loving recording my new podcast, Bri-ality Check. I started my podcast a little over a month ago as a creative outlet where I could express myself and provide a space for honest and authentic conversation with my guests. It’s been really cathartic, and I’ve received heartwarming feedback from listeners that motivates me to keep putting out episodes each week!” –Bri, Content Specialist

“This month, I have loved slowing down. I removed a few apps from my phone that I was spending far too much time on and it has freed up my mental space for other, more important things. It also has made it feel like there is more time in my days.” –Sam, Creative Director

“With the start of the new year, my wife and I decided we would be doing a lot more home cooking together. We try for one or two meals every other day/night of the week. There’s a bit more work involved — and frankly it often doesn’t taste as good as take out — but we’ve been loving the experience nonetheless.” –Jordan, Video Production Specialist

“When I was a kid, I read all the time and was a fairly fast reader. When I got to college though and in the year after, I didn’t have a lot of time for reading. Now, I’ve been enjoying books a lot more and I’ve been getting into all kinds of different genres. Currently, I’m reading one on the variety of sea life in places like Australia. I love seeing the incredible diversity of nature and all the bright colors of the different sea creatures, especially with the lack of color currently outside.” –Samantha, Content Manager & Design Specialist

“The cold winter months combined working from home during quarantine have given me a lot of time to reignite my love of making and listening to music. Throughout the past year I’ve been able to set up a small home studio for playing instruments and writing music. I can’t wait to be able to get back together with my bandmates and friends and start playing with other people, but in the meantime, I’m loving the opportunity to work in solitude.” –Will, Post-Production Manager

“This February, the thing I love is researching Southern Louisiana culture. I’m doing it for a side project, and it’s an area I knew almost nothing about previously. I’ve been getting into character with props and repeating turns of phrase, and it’s just too fun. See y’all ova yonda, and gimme ya crawdads!” –Jeremy, Project Manager

“Lately, I’ve been loving chess. I played a little when I was younger, but I just started really learning the game after watching The Queen’s Gambit on Netflix. One of my best friends is extremely good so he’s been teaching me and it has now become one of my ultimate goals to beat him. After that, I’ll take on Travis.” –Matt, Lead Web Developer & Lead Designer

“I love Taylor Ham. #sponsorme.” –Travis, Web Developer

Travis's favorite, Taylor Ham

With that being said, we hope you’re having a great February and we can’t wait to catch up with you next month! With love, Stay Coal <3
