Wow What a Month Novemeber - Camyarn Lokuta

Wow, What A Month! | November 2020

With the holiday season in full swing and the colder weather finally rolling in, we have found ourselves once again saying “Wow, what a month!” As always, the Coal Creative team has been keeping busy, but we thought we’d drop in to give you the scoop on some of the projects we’ve been working on!

Earlier in the month, Coal Creative was honored to partner with Brandon’s Forever Home for Home for the Holidays, a virtual event to raise money and awareness for children in foster care and their need for permanent homes. Brandon’s Forever Home is an organization that holds a very special place in our hearts at Coal Creative, especially during the holiday season. We encourage you to visit https://www.brandonsforeverhome.com/ and offer your support in any way you can!

Another local organization we’re always proud to work with is the Greater Wyoming Valley Chamber of Commerce (formerly the Greater Wilkes-Barre Chamber of Commerce) who recently announced a name change! The Annual Chamber Dinner is something the Coal team looks forward to each year, and this year was no exception. Due to the current pandemic, the 2020 Chamber Dinner looked a little different this year, with Coal Creative lending a hand by live-streaming the event via Facebook and YouTube! As if that wasn’t exciting enough for us, Coal Creative was also honored with the Pride of Place Pivot Award! The award recognizes organizations that have successfully adapted their workspaces or programs and services to meet the needs of their clients and community during the pandemic. “To be recognized by our local Chamber of Commerce is humbling,” says Holly, Coal Creative’s CEO. “I could not be more proud of the work my team has put in every single day since this all started.”

We also lent a hand to the United Way of Wyoming Valley to help launch their new page on the Harness app, their new platform that makes it easier than ever for people to donate. Donors also have the option to text SUPPORT to 26989 for an even quicker way to donate to the United Way. Coal Creative helped create the graphics announcing the new platform and also assisted in launching the Storytime with the United Way limited eblast series (Harness giving was the topic of the first eblast.) Pretty cool, right?

To close out the month of November, Coal Creative was proud to sponsor TEDxScrantonWomen, a TEDx event! TEDxScrantonWomen featured six incredible women- Savannah Drummond (social activist), Caroline Jones (financial advisor), Mary Kuna (economic developer), Joy Zavada (visual artist, triathlete), Joella Smith (social worker), and Elisabeth Constanzo (enrollment management professional). The event was held in Scranton on Sunday, November 29th (giving us a few days to digest our delicious Thanksgiving food!) At Coal Creative, we take pride in empowering the women not only on our team, but in our community as well. We look forward to supporting more female-fronted events in the future!

During the holiday season, it’s important to support local businesses as much as possible, especially given the times we’re currently in. As always, NEPA Creative continues to highlight local creatives and small businesses, and we want to encourage you to shop small this holiday season. One way you can support creatives in our community is by visiting the Holiday Pop-Up Shops on Public Square in Downtown Wilkes-Barre! The Pop-Up Shops opened last Saturday and will run until Saturday, December 12th. For more information and to see a full list of dates and times the Pop-Up Shops will be open, click here.

Our local creatives and small businesses need your support more than ever, so keep that in mind when doing your holiday shopping this year. Feel free to check out the NEPA Creative Facebook page to stay up-to-date and learn about local creatives and businesses you may not have known about!

Be sure to check in with the Coal team next month to see what December had in store for us. Until then, Stay Coal!
