If you’re a user on Twitter, you might have noticed that people are putting a period before addressing a Twitter user. Today we’re going to talk to you about why you don’t need to do that anymore.
Stop starting Tweets with a Period
Maybe you’ve found yourself in a situation like this before.. you wanted to give a respond to a user or brand and started the tweet with their username hoping other people would be able to see it too.
What you need to know is that Twitter used to treat this as a conversation between two people so unless you were following both of those users you wouldn’t see that tweet in your feed.
I’m here to tell you that Twitter made the decision recently to remove that restriction and show all interactions between public accounts.
So stop making the period feel so useless and invaluable. You don’t need to put it before a user name anymore. Throw it back at the end of a sentence, where it belongs.
